From time to time, special opportunities present
themselves, and from those opportunities come images suitable
for offering as limited edition prints. AviaPrints limited
editions are numbered in series, and signed by Charles.
Under the direction of aircraft collector, restorer and
historian Greg Herrick, one of recent aviation's most ambitious
projects was undertaken as the National Air Tour of September
2003. For more than two weeks, 26 antique and very rare
aircraft from the 1920s and early 1930s traveled more than
4000 miles while visiting 26 cities east of the Mississippi.
On the morning of September 15th, 2003, this 1931 Stinson
Tri-motor from Herrick's collection, serving as tour airplane
#29 and distinguished as American Airlines "oldest
airliner", was placed in front of the old American
Airlines terminal at Meacham Field in Fort Worth, Texas.
Note the AA insignia both on the fuselage of the Stinson,
and in subtle relief above the doorway to the terminal.
This sepia-toned print is printed on 13" x 19"
archival watercolor stock with archival inks. The image
size is 9" x 15". The one-time print run numbers
500 prints, and each is accompanied by a Certificate of
Authenticity.
